A few images of the latest pieces to go through the kiln in tin foil saggars. I don't currently have anywhere to do sawdust or pit firings so I've found a way of having the same process in an electric kiln.
I wrap the glazed pots in newspaper, sometimes soaking both pot and paper in an iron sulphate solution, then wrap the whole lot in several layers of strong foil, sometimes with some sawdust. These then go in the kiln to be fired to 600 degrees. I go fairly slowly to avoid cracks and have to make sure the tin foil is sealed to stop the studio getting smoky. Once they come out of the kiln everything gets a good scrub.
